— What You Can Expect —

Start with a visit to the local market (available in the morning class only). Participants will then trek to a rice field where they will gain insight into the traditional agricultural techniques used in Bali. After that, we'll show you around our culinary space and teach you how to prepare a traditional Balinese daily gift called Canang Sari. Eat what you've prepared by the conclusion of the course.

1. Regular Menu:

  • Saté lilit (mashed spices on fish skewers) 
  • Green pumpkin soup (vegetable soup with pumpkin) 
  • Pepes ikan (grilled fish in banana leaf) 
  • Lawar bali (mixed vegetables with coconut sauce) 
  • Kari Ayam (chicken curry with balinese sauce) 
  • Tempe lalah manis (fried sweet and spicy tempe)

  • Satay tempe (soybean cake skewer and peanut sauce)

** Take the Traditional Market Tour (available in morning session only) | Visit a bustling conventional market where inhabitants negotiate over local agricultural products such as meat and vegetables, as well as an array of vibrant fabrics and garments

** Visit the Rice Field | Gain insight into the Subak, a customary irrigation system in Bali that has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape for its traditional water management techniques in rice fields

** Make a traditional Balinese offering | Discover the art of crafting stunning Balinese Canang Sari, which are floral tributes that embellish the entrances of temples, homes, and other sacred locations throughout Bali. Create the foundational spice paste known as "Base Gede," which serves as a cornerstone for many Balinese and Indonesian dishes

** Make authentic traditional spice (Base Gede) | This paste is crafted from fresh, seasonal ingredients that are readily available in households, and when combined, yield a deliciously intricate flavor.

** Enjoy your lunch/dinner time | Relish the meal you have prepared while taking in the serene beauty of the surrounding rice paddies
